No, it is rated F#, not Category F#. Category is for hurricanes. and the Fujita scale measures F0-F5, F6 was never added (although considered several times) and both are obsolete. The reason F6 doesn't exsist is because the F- and EF- scales do not rate in terms of wind speed, like the Saffir-Simpson (hurricanes) scale, but rather in terms of damage. The current tornado rating system is the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with EF ratings.

tornadores are too in categories! THE fugita scale measures tornadoes in F1-F5. F6 thru F10 exist but have never needed to be used. F6 would be in 350 mph or more.

Was that the one that hit near a town called mulhall or something? I read that one had some record measurements, but caused little damage because it hit in a very rural area.
DarkSpy87 (May 11, 2008 at 4:21 am)
fyi tornadoes are not listed in categories, and there was an even more powerful tornado that day, but it only hit rural area, so got no coverage. It most likely had faster winds then that moore/bridge creek tornado, but there was no doppler on wheels (DOW) in the area to get it.

I don't know if a tornado will ever break the record wind speed set by this one. Conditions were perfect that day, and I wonder if we will ever see them again. I sure hope not. But I see your point on the ef scale. This one should have been a category six.

Neither one of them was killed.

i think they was telling anyone with a CB to stay of the air unless you was reporting the tornadoe because they needed the frequency's to keep contact with the chaser's
WinterWeatherII (May 8, 2008 at 3:44 am)
What in the world was that guy saying about "getting off the radio" at 1:07, was he telling them to get off the radio or was someone else trying to use the frequency when the storms where going on? And was that skywarn? Also heard "Perfect Paul" in there. |
