Never read the book but watching the movie for a second time time I noticed McCandless writes at the very end that "true hapiness is only real when shared". This seems to get overlooked based upon the few posts I've read and several people I've spoken with. Nonetheless, every person can walk away from this story and take away something different. The fact that the movie has had an impact on so many is the important fact and not so much why it was significant to each individual.
