I am going to say what is the truth. Please human rights violations today? Maybe 50 years ago, but these days please. Your a conspiracy theorists. You don't trust them listening to your phone conversations b/c you have something to hide. I have nothing to hide and I want terrorists dead! I am an American and loyal to my superiors! Its obvious that the Patriot Act could not have been written after 9/11, it was planned and written long before hand. Of course, anyone that said as much was declared to be unpatriotic at the time it was passed, so it wasn't revealed to the public until long after it was too late.

The US government, like many others, has a history of abusing its power by surveillancing and harassing political dissenters. Don't believe it? Look up cointel pro. It totally makes sense that those in power will use whatever means necessary to protect it. I don't trust intelligence agencies to have the power to listen to my phone conversations at will. Their records of human rights violations and political suppression speak for themselves. Get educated before you start name calling, moron.

Do people really think that they will investigate anything people say wrong about the governemnt. I think they know when someone is planning a attack or just speaking out! "They don't tap the phones of common people" Oh so they know a priori that these people are criminals before they even tap their phone lines.
By the way, the Libertarians are the most against the Patriot Act, not "liberal scum".

Why don't you move to Russia or North Korea? You can be certain that the govt. has full authority and power to do what it takes to keep you safe. They are smart enough to realize that civil liberties put us in danger and really just get in the way of the trustworthy folks in the government doing what is in the people's best interest.

We live in this time and age. This needs to be done everything has been mapped out and if we ever want to leave this planet and explore the universe these events need to be done.
If we had world peace and all countries being happy with what they have we will all die eventually because we will not have the means to transport ourselves when the earth fucks up somehow or until the sun becomes a supergiant
