I'm a Habs fan, the reason they won in 93 was... Smoke and mirrors and Patrick Roy.

It is so funny to watch all the Canadiens' players changing their sticks after the McSorley incident.

the difference between selanne's illegal curve and mcsorley's, selanne was caught by a former coach during the REGULAR SEASON. besides, at least selanne plays for owners who wanna win and doesn't suck out as much money possible from what is arguably the most loyal fan base in the states. as a ducks fan, kings fans should do something to make a statement to kings ownership. i want my team against your team in the playoffs to create an offical rivaly and to show LA that Ducks rule socal hockey

I understand the momentum factor, but one play like that was the only reason MTL won? Great teams get past those types of things.
EddieCat1971 (September 12, 2008 at 3:17 pm)
MTL was a solid team, but if it wasn't for Roy, the cup would have been for sure in LA. The Habs were nothing fantastic.
EddieCat1971 (September 12, 2008 at 3:11 pm)
This was Roy's best performance of his career. He single handedly won the cup for the Habs. LA had a better offense. Hrudey played great too, but LA's D was too offensive minded. It could have gone either way. I do admit that the refs and league wanted Mtl to win it for the 100th Cup anniversary that year. The stick incident blew that game for sure, but it shouldn't have blown the series. Roy was a a stone wall when it counted.

I disagree that LA would have won the Cup if McSorley hadn't got caught. The reality is that the Habs won that game and the series because they were the better team.
