some people think it has to do with living in a male-dominated society (the "y" being the male chromosome). i think that makes sense, considering some of the lyrics ("...i'm just a poor little baby...""...i wish i could buy back the woman you stole..."). if thats the case, it signifies breaking out of that "Y Control" and being your own person. Karen O is actually my personal hero in this, as she tends to shatter traditional female-singer conventions.
