What a marvellous interpretation - 0:58 actually sends me crazy!
Niels is wonderful, as usual; he just bounces along and supports Oscar tremdously. And do I even need to describe Peterson's performance?

Beautiful playing all round, but would smooth playing from one of the masters of the upright bass.

I just adore Mr. Peterson.

I wonder how much Niels would have RIPPED on an electric bass...

One hundred percent class. Not only did Oscar Peterson have a one in a million talent, he played jazz the way it's supposed to be played.
R.I.P Oscar Peterson

It's a nice upbeat version, amazing technique. I prefer the ballad style Rainy Day developed in OPs recent performances. I remember seeing his band in the Royal Albert Hall in 2005. It was their first concert after NHOP died, with Dave Young as replacement. After a rocking opener (When lights are low if I can remember) OP did the most emotional version of Rainy Day ever; it felt as Niels was now on everyone's mind, some people in the audience were crying. |
