I agree for the most part, but Bird didn't have the 3 point shot in college either. However, Larry is the better shooter, with a collegiate FG pct. 9 points higher than Pete's (I think this disparity was even greater in the NBA). But Pete scored more than anybody in college basketball history, and those records will probably never be broken!

c'mon i once read that if theres was a three point line back when the pistol played he would average 13 three pointers a game..... larry bird did not do that.... larry bird was a great shooter but no one is messin with the pistol... larry bird is a shooter, pistol is a scorer....

larry nails it on the head when quotes his father - " I'll tell you what, son. You keep practicing, maybe one day i'll coach you and let you shoot it every time you touch it"
pete was great, but the amount of shots he was allowed to take on a game basis was just sickening. He was a ballhog, a great one, but a ballhog.
Larry wins. imho.

Great choice. I love Pistol Pete but he is not in the same league as Bird. Bird faced tougher competition and shot a higher percentage while taking arguably more difficult shots. That he basically shot 50% in the NBA despite getting hacked and taking so many deep shots is just ridiculous. Best overall player ever.
