Luv this song -- thank you Kris and Johnny! It's great to hear on a Sunday!

True, but to generate that country music backbeat that chugs along so fluidly is his real talent as a gutarist. One thing Johnny never did was overplay a melody or complicate the simple beauty of his guitars rhythm. I always have likened his guitar to the sound of a freight train in the night. Simplicity is patience and patience is experience. By the way most of the other 3 % of chords in music are reserved for McCartney, Harrison, Lennon

Cash probably knew he would be a singer at a very early age - he simply had the guts to follow his dream - and we thank him for that!! A life well lived!

Hey, Earthy -- That is so funny re Robert Plant -- I played flute for many years so I don't know much about the guitar except that I still think The Cash Man was born w/one in his in hand -- heeeeeee heeeee

Kristofferson once landed his helicopter in Cash's back yard - because he gave Cash tapes of songs he had written - Cash did not listen to them! At the time Kris was the janitor for Cash's record company! Who listens to something that a janitor wrote? They did not know that the janitor had a college degree and was a Rhodes Scholar!!! Sunday Morning Coming Down - and Help Me Make It Through The Night - were on the tape!!!

I've been playing piano and guitar for over 30 years - and to be very serious - if you know G, C and D chords on the guitar - you can honestly play about 95% of every song you've ever heard!! Be careful of what you write - you may get stuck singing it every day for the next 30 years! And the type of music makes NO difference - Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin said one of the reasons he did not get together with band members - he HATES singing that "Damn bloody wedding song" - Stairway To Heaven!!!

Earth -- that was my Grandma's fav song -- I think Johnny was still born w/a guitar in his hand. I know Elvis at, I believe, in his last concert said he only knew 3 cords -- sad to watch.

EVERY one of them - Cash was not a guitar player - he used it more as a shield than anything else - but with a voice like his - who needs a guitar?!?!?! He often said that he knew 3 chords - and never needed any more - there is some truth to that - when you're doing 200 dates a year - the same few chords get VERY boring - then you start forgetting the words to "Ring Of Fire"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was a GREAT entertainer!!!!

Earthlink -- have you watched all the the Johnny Cash shows -- he was born w/a guitar in his hand. LUV HIM -- My Grandmother loved him, too.
