Yes he did, later buying a pub near Dartmouth, we drove past one day and got a wave from him, he introduced Rick Stein to our screens, I later helped his youngest son for 3 years get his degree at Exeter. And yes I saw the stranglers at Reading. 10 years later my boss and I realised that we had stood close during the event. Later he dragged me to see a then unknown band called the Zutons. (2004) And we met them, almost 2 hours wait in the cold, but it was worth it.
