The Requiem of Verdi is not called his "best Opera" without any reasons. This piece is more tha music for a funeral. If you listen to this piece, you can feel closer to heaven. And the interpretation with Karajan and the fabulous solists is the best i've ever heard.

The Berlioz Requiem is "the best" - trust me! - but, Beethoven's Mass in D (Missa Solemnis) and Beethoven's Mass in C run it close.

For the moment i think the Mozart's requiem is the best because it's more funeral

"Lacrimosa" is the most beautiful part of the Requiem. It is my favorite.

For the Christian, the text equals the music in beauty:
Lacrimosa dies illa,
qua resurget ex favilla,
judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce Deus.
Pie Jesu, Domine,
dona eis requiem.
Amen. |
