Stillwater was an American band of the 1970s, which played Southern rock with a folk flair. Their song Mind Bender charted in the top 100 singles in 1978. Cameron Crowe, writer for Rolling Stone magazine, first heard Stillwater playing in Macon Georgia at Unlce Sams night club and Lakeside Park. He ended up using the name "Stillwater" for his fictional band in his movie "Almost Famous." Stillwater is: Mike Causey - Guitar Jimmy Hall - Vocals, percussion Bobby Golden - Guitar Allison Scarborough - Bass guitar, vocals Rob Walker - Guitar, vocals Bob Spearman - Keyboards Sebie Lacey - Drums, vocals

Nice to see the video that goes with all of the Original (yes, I said ORIGINAL) Stillwater songs. There were 3 Albums in total, Stillwater - Stillwater, Stillwater - Farrington Road, and Stillwater - I Reserve The Right. Three more songs and I have all 3 complete albums, and it only took me 6 years so far!

actually, it isn't. The band in the movie isn't really based on anyone. Cameron Crowe, the director and writer, used his own experiences as a writer for Rolling Stone when he travelled with The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. But Crowe approached Stillwater (the REAL band) and asked if they could use their music in the movie, but it didn't end up happening.

Great band ,Great song, How can you go wrong! There was a live multiband sothern rock album called "Hotels ,Motels,And Roadshows" these guy's did a smoking live Mindbender.
