The Native Americans shouldn't stand for this kind of degrading. It's high time we ALL stand up and take a stand on this together. Great video showing just how they are being degraded.

mascots are the perpetuation of sterotypes non Indians have of us and is degrading and make us to be cartoonish and don't get me started on the tomahawk chop! I always hear the same thing when one of our people complain- GET OVER IT. Well,no I WON'T

Ever heard of the New York Yankees? Boston Red Sox? Texas Rangers? Dallas Cowboys? New England Patriots? Minnesota Vikings? Boston Celtics?

that is ridiculous. if it were any other racial or ethnic minority people would be having a fit, but for some reason it seems ok to stereotype native american peoples. thanks for the video.

this very touching it speaks to me it not fair that people have to put down others b/c they are different.

You are right, pngrick. Anyone interested in a paradigm for understanding the mascot issue from a school where there are probably very few American Indians, should look up this school. I hope it does not receive much negative publicity before we get a chance to copy off the site and make a study of it in historical terms.

Look up Port Neches-Groves on Wikipedia. It mentions the official seal.

Why on earth would the Cherokee Nation endorse a dancer who does not dance in Cherokee regalia, but plains Fancy Dance regalia. Do you mean the federally recognized Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma? Or, do you mean an unoffical Cherokee group in Texas?

Port Neches-Groves High School in Texas has been awarded the official seal of the Cherokee Nation to uphold the traditions of the Indian Nation. Our mascot is in full Indian Dance attire and dances a traditional Indian dance. Look up PNG Indians on youtube to see,
