This is psychedelic because the 13th floor elevators coined the term psychedelic music. They had a completely different sound than any other band at the time, so they decided to make it something unique and created the term psychedelic music. Your statement is the equivalent of going up to Alexander Graham Bell's invention and saying "Why do people keep calling this a telephone? It doesnt even have buttons to dial the number!"

Psychedelic music isn't about noodling guitar solos and weird sounds,it's about a state of mind.The word means mind manifesting.Read the elevators lyrics,very psychedelic.
