are you kidding..... john mayer is probably the best guitarist of our generation. there is no doubt santana would have done a good job, it's fucking santana. but i think you are REALLY underestimating mayer's talent. listen to the john mayer trio album try! or the JMT section on his live where the light is album. homeboy can play the fuckin guitar better than anyone out there thats under the age of 40.

John Meyer is an unusual choice, being his music is much softer. I think he did good though. Santana would be good too, but I don't think I really would have been as suprised.
