joe perry is in a different class...shred wise,..no contest...doug all the way...but...joe has written more instantly recognizable licks,..so it could swing joe's way overall...I'd rather listen to doug being a guitar geek...I just wish he could be in a cooler band than whitesnake...D'OH

Slash is great in his own right. David Gilmour is one of my favorite guitarists along wth Yngwie Malmsteen, though they are leagues apart in styles and technical ability. Take something good from all the great players instead of drawing lines on who can play the fastest.

hey man i agree with u about doug, hes underrated and i got into him wayyy b4 whitesnake or dio and i love him too. but slash is if anything but underrated.what has he done? formed snaepit,toured and did 2 albumswith them that had some amazing music on, did a blues ball and toured again, and he has worked with alot of artists from les paul to MJ ever since. now he has vr wich might not be your taste but still have some pretty good songs on the first album.so dont tell me hes underrated
