It is a fact that the song's original title was exactly that! But record execs, the brilliant people they are, suggested that "SIXTY-five..." would give the song a more modern feel. They didn't give a second thought to the existing lyrics though.

I'd love to go back to the spring of '83, when this song had a lot of airplay. I'd be riding around in my first (of the three I've owned) '69 Vista Cruiser listening to this song, back with my girlfriend of those days - yes, Debbie, I miss you! judges77 wrote: Amen,Peaks33! If I'm correct, the song was orginally titled 55 love affair, but the label company decided 1965 sounded better and went with that. Something like that.
