When this song came out, i was 17 in still in high school. i loved Cohen's story-telling and observations; we played this one all summer long.

I am an American living in Copenhagen. Cohen just played here a couple weeks ago and the papers said it was the best show since Elvis was here (I assume they mean b4 he supposedly died :) ). Compare that to the review of KISS a month ago calling them painted corpses...

Actually, I think from international blogs I've been on that Cohen is internationally recognized. This song is brilliant and came about fairly late in his carrer, which i don't believe is over yet.

Its much harder for Canadian musicians to be recognized. Leonard is our Dylan yet nowhere near the recognition.
So many worthy up and coming Canadians too.
James Parker is Canadian who nowbody seams to know about. Great lyrics in his songs. The Angry Young Man video great although obviously produced independantly.
