Enka is beautiful music which is fit for anyone at any age. Even if one is young does not mean they can't listen to folk music. Enka isn't just from the old days, it's alive today just as ever.

traditionally its sung in manners that are perceived to be sad and tragic to westeners, but are in actuality happy and joyous...they are often times very moving and subtle.

is this like from the 60's? My dad was a serviceman, and he's got a bunch of old enka vinyl. I assumed enka is just old music from 60s-70s. until i went to japan and realized there is NEW enka. but young people dont like it. So what's someone born in '89 listening to enka for?

hmm, i don't really like it. maybe because i don't understand the words. isn't enka supposed to be sad?

She's VERY technical for an artist who made her début not so long ago - I can see where those who complain about singers being too hung up on the technique rather than putting their heart into their performance come from. Not bad, but I think she loses herself a little in the technicalities. |
