@ that time, i also didnt know who da hell that was. It was so painfull, cause it was not till i left london around 99-2000 4 good after 2 years fashion; when i was back in turkey, smokin a spliff in ma flat, right in the summa, hot outside, turn on the radio: and boom: the sax melody starts to groove from AWB - i fuckin called up the radio station n asked 4 the name of the band and that was it. I got into funk after that day. Also, funny, the producer of that album was: Arif Mardin. a Turk Guy!

that type o shit used to happen 2 me all the time. N still happenes sometimes, every once in a while. I was takin drawin n fashion classes in London in 96-98; we had to draw from a nude model, n i was the only dude in the class which was male. 12-15 chics, i mean, awesome chics n me. The teacher used 2 bring a radio all the time, while we were drawin. Oh of a sudden this piece from average white band - Pick up da pieces start 2 play. Dude i was so groovin. I felt in luv w/it, right away...

anyways, i luved the bass right away, those cool slap moves n deep, crisp sound which grooved bad, too. Next day i bought the tape from a store n listened 2 it non stop the whole time. I get the money n went 2 philly with this tape by ma side. My girl got used 2 it n loved it. That was also the last time i saw her. We broke up n she was not worth it. Fun thing is, she now lives in New York n still listens to Maxwell without me. I'm so glad about that. I am hooked to ma true self after 10 years.. |
