You can get your duty station garenteed in you enlistment contract. So say you enlist infantry with airborne (11xOpt.4) and you want to go to the 82nd, you can get Fort Bragg in your contract as first duty station and since the 82nd is the only infantry division at Fort Bragg, that means you'd be assisigned to the 82nd. Just make sure it is in your contract, same goes for Airborne School, if it isn't in your contract, your not getting it! Point is: READ YOUR CONTRACT!! Hope this helped.

If you fail Airborne School, whether because of injury or failing to meet the standards, you still will be "assigned according to the needs of the Army." However, you won't go to an Airborne unit and could end up just about anywhere. This mainly depends on your MOS and where the Army needs certain MOS's.

Well, if you volunteer for Airborne School, either when you enlist of when you get to Basic (an Airborne recruiter shows up during the 1st few days), as long as you pass the school you are going to be assigned "according to the needs of the Army." You will most likely end up with the 82nd ABN DIV @ Ft. Bragg, NC. There is a chance you may end up with either the 173rd ABN BDE @ Vincenza, Italy or the 4th BDE 25 IN DIV @ Ft. Richardson, AL. However, the vast majority end up with the 82nd.

That's how all the military videos are. They only show you the cool stuff. They conviently forget the hurry-up and wait aspect of the whole friggin operation :P

the only part of the airborne experience it doesn't show is waiting in the pack shed rigged up for like 3 hours before you actually get on the bird

Jews do hate, in the talmud it says every non-jew is inferior, but this is not a bout Arab-Isreali stupity. Anyway this is really impressive, I'm thinking of going Airborne when join up, seems fucking fun.
