Speaking in San Francisco to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws annual conference in 2002, comedian and talk show host (now-"Real Time" on HBO; then - "Politically Incorrect"), Bill Maher rips into America's War on Cannabis, taking it personal because his friend Todd McCormick was in a CA prison at the time - serving 4 years for researching a book to help medical marijuana patients grow their own medicine, as a collaborative effort with motivational author Peter McWilliams. http://norml.org

I just think its sad that its 2008,& as an adult I still cannot legally smoke marijuana in the privacy of my own home.Meanwhile I have to sit thru hundreds of alcohol & prescription drug ads everyday.Invading my civil rights, while the govt is the biggest drug dealers of them all.

marijuana became illegal in 1937, When a (man/republican) testified infront of the congress saying "Marijuana made white women seek relationships with negros" and it's been illegal ever sence. For 8 years we just had moron republicans and our country is now in the worst shape it has even been. FUCK BUSH/McCAIN

Not to mention that these politicians always forget to tell you how much your paying in taxes to keep hundreds of thousands of people in prison because they smoked a joint.

Yeah cigarettes, alcohol, and pills do more damage than any drug could ever do. And people who give that bullshit speech about heroin don't know what they're talking about because it comes from the poppy plant, and so does morphine, percocet, vicodin, and a million other pain medications that people get addicted to. And the only drugs you can die from in withdrawal are benzodiazapenes and alcohol which are legal and which alot of people take.

ciggs, alchol, pills kill millions every year and are advertised on T.V and signs on freeways. Cannabis is the safest and healthiest medicine on earth and people are not allowed to advertise even HEMP jeans on T.V. Our fucked up government doesent show how for hundred thousands of years people depended on Hemp and cannabis in the history books

Greatly 'hazardous' substances are perfectly legal. If you take 10 aspirins, and no one finds you, you are guaranteed to never have a headache again. Alcohol is more addictive, and much more dangerous to the second-person people than pot. Apparently, cough syrups are mild hallucinogens... Countries that have legalized marijuana, expected a permanent drop of use of this drug.
