The host should not be so partial for Linklater. They barely allowed Leary to talk. It´s a completely intolerant person that Linklater. I agree with the safe usage of drugs. Those who can´t handle it, well it´s not anyone problem but themselves, isn´t it?

Drug such as lsd are not for everyone. to promote them without reservation is irresponsible. leary and his ilk were like kids who found the cookie jar and were purile in there spreding of its use.

I don't preach Leary as an influence for what he's done for Americans in 60s drug-rush, but I certainly don't craft him as being full of shit. He wasn't sick in the head, he was quite a competent Eastsider with the justified notion of Mexican Magics...I'm not going to start using psychedelics- inhalants, intoxicants, dissociatives, sedatives and anglesics are/were enough for me. It's funny, I'm defending a man whose message I will never grasp...and I will, at least, never try LSD. I don't care.

Not having a work ethic is an ethic of work; it is impossible to go undertow much of what and how anything operates you can't just flank-stab against formulas, structure, etc, etc.. just like there's no real random noise in music--sure, Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth is making his Fender squeal like a barnyard animal, but he already made it up in his mind that he would do that. Blog? I hoped blogging died several years ago, or at least retired to a more compatible environment, but oh well.

Well, Dude421, I do think this is a classic interview. You have to keep in mind the context. American society went through a dramatic shift in the late 60s. And Leary and Linkletter personify this shift. Linkletter, the voice of the mainstream. Leary, the voice of the counterculture. Both sides were full of shit, of course. And there's the story of history as we know it. But this interview is a very interesting time-capsule.

I'm not saying that intelligence is measured by work ethic. I have no work ethic, but i've done more for humanity in one blog post then half of the idiots on youtube just talking shit. Most of them never upload their own videos. They are just critiques.
Dude421 (July 23, 2008 at 11:14 pm)
I don't really see how this is an "amazing" interview--nobody listens to Leary, and he's told the world would be a better place if he died. Sure, he says his rebellious milieu of vernaculage, but the blue-suit doesn't care for him-- his mind was already made-up. A tad disappointing, really.

Depends on the tolerance of the individual at hand. Documentarist I see. What of? Bulldog Journalism, that cleansing break of material? So you have a career. But the way you structured it, seemed like you were indulgent of yourself; and on your own terms, what best describes a person's intelligence? Is it their work ethic? How they view life or is it all put into one upholstered presentation of "Personal Concepts"?
