Not only that, 'Katella', Messick recorded the second season (1966-'67) of "ATOM ANT" cartoons in Morris' place- because their vocal deliveries WERE similar, no one really noticed the difference.....

OMG...that is the SAME voice actress from the animated Alice Through the Looking Glass. How ironic.

I understand that this "Alice" special marked a low point in relations between Morris and Hanna Barbera. There were money issues, and reading between the lines, Morris left HB when, to save money on the children's record of this special, HB asked Messick to record for the Rabbit. Morris gives a much better reading, but most 6 year olds aren't going to notice.

What an amazing rarity! Thanks for posting this!

The "White Rabbit" is none other than Howard Morris. When the second season of "ATOM ANT" was produced in 1966, Howard Morris, Atom's original voice, was replaced by Don Messick, who COULD sound similar to that voice!

Alice is voiced by Janet Waldo. The Rabbit sounds like Don Messick.

These 1-cent sales still exist at Rexall stores in Canada...those are good!
fromthesidelines (April 23, 2007 at 9:40 pm)
This was originally seen on ABC in March of 1966, and sponsored by the Rexall Drug Company, whose sole message was to remind viewers that their famous "one cent sale" was about to start nationwide at all Rexall drugstores. That's why there were "integrated commercials" for the sale, featuring "Alice" and the "White Rabbit", inbetween the story. This was one of them....

For a Hanna-Barbera production talking about saving money, the animation sure has bumped up in production... |
