Tesla Motors unveiled their uber-chic Roadster, a powerful electric vehicle that looks, feels and drives like many other high-end sports cars Wednesday night. The main difference is the noise. Powered by a 3-phase, 4-pole AC induction motor, the Roadster can go 130 mph and does 0-60 in about 4 seconds, all completely silent. Awesome!

This is exactly my point. There's a prototype, but otherwise the car is currently unattainable. I'm just saying that the performance and range numbers are suspiciously rosy. The cost is also quite high. I still want to see more than one, and have the range and performance verified.

The car is $92,000, all sold out this year. Plans on making progressively less expensive models, one for $49,000 another for $30,000 - Not $400,000.

man that is so badass. Especially how he was talking about how a lot more money gets put back in to help with the advancing of the technology. What sort of education do people have who work developing (or maintaining) these vehicles?
