Muslimlogic1. Somerset Maugham is indeed right to denounce the historical atrocities committed in the name of Christ. However, as you correctly point out, Jesus said "Love your enemy" and Christianity has largely been able to abandon violence in the name of their faith on that basis. The Koran, by contrast, positively DEMANDS violence and will never ON PRINCIPLE be able to abandon it.

That said, Muslimligic1, muslimBeheader has already referred you to the sahih Muslim hadith that proves that your "prophet's" prohibition on the killing of women & children was not motivated by humanitarian concerns. In fact, it was because they were more valuable to him as war booty.

Muslimlogic1. Thank you for the sahih Bukhari hadith you quote to back up your claim that "the prophet forbade the killing of women & children". I was actually aware of this. We have now established that you accept sahih hadith which we can henceforth refer to in our debates with you without you resorting to the Muslim deception ploy of questioning their authenticity and claiming to be a "Koran-only" Muslim. Thanks for that.

Jaththama that he said (to the Holy Prophet): Messenger of Allah, we kill the children of the polytheists during the night raids. He said: They are from them.

Violent Christianity: Saint Augustine's cognite intrare ("lead them in"—i.e. "force them to convert"). The Qur'an says the exact opposite: "There is no compulsion in religion" ( 2:256 ). Augustine's frightening idea that we must "conform" to the "Christianity" has unleashed centuries of unparalleled bloodshed. Christianity is responsible for more genocide than all other faiths combined.
