This is definitely not 1959 considering he was on the Winter Dance Party tour for the first two months of 1959, here he is with the Crickets (which he left in 1958), and lastly this predates his signature "wonder glasses" period. Great video nonetheless, Buddy Holly footage is few and far between.

I'm refering to popeyekds and agree with him that the performance did not take place in 1959. This NY pervormance was excactly in 1958 and by the end of same year, Buddy Holly had left the Crickets to perform as a solist.
