You're right; but he wasn't looking for justification, only love. Love blinds even the most keen of eyes, once you know what(or who, as the case may be in this case) you want, you'll go after them - with no concern for anyone, or anything in your way. It's unfortunate that he decided to do "wrong" to get his way, which in the end it ultimately failed. There was no justification for what he did, but really he didn't need the justification at least in his mind, because he loved her so much.
