While I was stationed in Okinawa in '81, this was shown on Armed Forces Network during the only four hours of American TV allowed on Japanese TV. I had never seen it before then, being from the West Coast.

The best thing about Clutch is the music. It's wild! Sounds like some exotic jazz flute like Herbie Mann, Paul Horn or something Roland Kirk would do in the late 50s crossed with Martin Denny-type exotica. The music with flute and congas here is the bomb. I haven't heard this since I was a kid, but the theme music has stayed with me for 44 years. I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since 1964! Where can I get a soundtrack recording? And who's the wonderful flute player? He's exquisite!!

we don't understand whats wrong with young people either...this was so great in black white television and the "animation" was top of the line back in the late 50's....no CAD or CG then... it was all hand drawn and the overlay of moving lips was ground breaking tech in that era. |
