Yes but that doesn't mean that Bin Laden didn't benefit from this. Terrorism generally isn't for financial gain.

I can't help but think of Guatemala 1953 - The coup was engineered by the CIA for the benefit of the U.S.A. owned Fruit Co. to prevent paying a fair price and a living wage to the Guatemalans who grew, harvested and shipped bananas to the USA. Financial stability would have given them opportunity to grow as a nation. Instead, we murdered their elected president and inserted a sympathetic player. 55 years later, Guatemala has not recovered and remains one of the poorest countries on our planet. |
