Their ORIGINAL music is of so high-level in general, that it`s almost futile to pronounce any "best of" ( it does n`t mean, that it could n`t be done, though... ), but I consider this bizarre song to be close to top.

The drum sounds change during the song. In the beginning it`s a linn-drumset, in 1:14 it`s a TR 808 and in 2:43 it changes into their destinctive EFX-Drumkit.
Yes they have recorded it in New York with the brilliant Francois Kevorkian after they have learned about their enormous status in the Bronx and after listening to New Order`s "Blue Monday"

Yeah, isn't that strange? Kraftwerk were always notorious about making their own unique sounds. They were visiting clubs in NY while making this record they must have fallen in love with the sound of it (and the LinnDrum which is audible in the intro and throughout Electric Cafe). They've been running it through delays and other FX, though.

Love Kraftwerk! This song brings back memories. I was 28 and playing in a new wave band. Metal was big in the 80s so this song really was different. Also love their earlier stuff, though they never played it on the radio.
