rubish! The Ramones are under rated. They never had a hit, ever. They have a reputation of noisy rubish that go 1 2 3 4!!! and always play the same songs.
And it was Johnny Ramone who said to Paul Simonon to start mking music instead of waiting untill they were Jimi Pages" If it werent for the Ramones, forget the Clash! And the ramones main inspiration is the New York dolls and the Stooges. So THERE!

The Ramones are over-rated. They were desperately trying to be British... XD
The Clash are amazing... mind you, ARE. Not WERE. XD

Well yeah, you could seriously? I couldn't for some reason. I mean the same person that sang Imagine or Jealous Guy?

Good sound on this vid. Wouldn't call them "punk" after their first album, though. "Politically-minded rock" is more apt. This song goes far beyond standard punk in sophistication: a smart, maeaningful lyric; guitar lines by Jones harmonizing with the vocal throughout; militia-inspired snare introducing each section; key change before the ending. I can see John Lennon writing and performing this song post-Beatles, although with a tad more subtlety.
