He's talking about fucking Jesus, and the lack of devinity involved in his legacy. It's a song about the greed in martyrs, and the falsehood that this pseudo-altruism has brought about us.

maynard leaves it to us to interpret the lyrics however we wish. art doesn't need to be explained. these guys are just deep.

and to continue my post I think Maynard has his own meanings and he lets the listeners come up with their own. Its dumb when people say "Oh well Maynard meant it to be this way or that way". No just no because you have not met him in person to ask him specific of what one of songs means. Just because you read or seen an interview that still doesn't change the fact you haven't got his opinion in person on the matter to know. Plus music is for enjoyment nothing else not arguing so I'm done now.

Actually it is a common thing to have an interest in the things you like therefore whether it be music, tv, or games you know anything. If you have an interest in something your gonna research it and look into it. The problem is how people twist shit around and take things to far. The way I see it when it comes to Maynard in general and his music he's always been vague about the meaning of his songs so I think he leaves it to the listener to think what the song is about.

Danny the drummer does it, with what? I'm not sure... but it CAN be replicated on the guitar, as I've done it before. |
