Being from the tail end of the babyboom I remember the name Moby Grape and have been sampling them on this web site.
I know that mostly their fans will watch this vid and see this posting but I have to say that this band takes itself much too seriously.
The pseudo-intellect hippiness that this weak sound tries to project is cliché and a bore.
Sorry if that offends but it now explains why they were used in Beavis and Butthead as a favorite band of the hippy teacher Mr. Van Drissen.

Excellent stuff, the misunderstood genius of Moby Grape.

This is precisely what's wrong with the CD and radio industry today. All the "chart toppers" get CD releases and airplay, while brilliant bands like Moby Grape, The Fugs et al are left by the wayside to be forgotten. Damn shame. Thank G-d for YouTube.

Anybody heard of a band called Joy Of cooking who opened for the rest of Big Brother after Janis died? They were so great that I bought their record on the way out the door: The Holding Company sucked.

Plant was also reportedly a huge Small Faces fan. Everyone thought highly of Marriott though at that time i suppose.
