I believe a relative of mine Andre Reveliotty played with Sidney in Paris way back when but I can't find out what instrument he played nor anything else about him. Would like any information anyone has to be posted here.
thanks

I really think you're wrong. It is true that when you are a great saxophonist like Bechet, you can play on any instrument but when you begin to play, the instrument and the mouth piece can really make the difference. And every instrument sounds different so you have to find your mate...

It doesn"t mean anything about what instrument the musician played! It's all in the musician!!! Look at what coleman did with a cheap plastic sax!!!! A kazoo could be a great jazz instrument and it costs only 2 bucks! Long live Bechet!!!!!

He played a Buescher. His original one he used in the 30 and 40ies is now in possession of Olivier Franc, who received it as gift from an American who payed the unbelievable amount of 120000 Euros for it. If you go to Ebay, there are auctions in the range of 2000 to 2500 Euros. I personally play a Conn of 1923 which is just as good (Gus Buescher was employed at Conn before he started himself). Good luck! |
