So what do you do if someone breaks into your house? Call 911? The police may not arrive within the 1 minute that it takes for the assailant to cut your throat. How are you going to protect your family?

Ive agreed with all your videos so far...but this time..i have to disagree..the reason we need guns is in case the govt becomes to oppressive!!! The US could very easily become a police state if our citizens are unarmed.

Frankly, you do not deserve the grate country you are living in. You should better go to North Korea, it is your dream state.
No carbon emissions, only the army have guns, universal healthcare. Yeah, they have this tendency to prohibit some other thing - like voting, but you can speak about that to the their government, or can you?

How stupid do you get?
"Haha, because you are anti guns you are pro marihuana, haha", no because you are stupid bimbo you are a major ass hole! I am pro guns and anti prohibition, so what am judging by your sick logic".
And also the fucking guns are in the constitution for a reason. If a bunch of retards like you elect tyrant the people should have a instrument with which to put him/her down and restore the rule of LAW!!! Take the guns and you are eliminating this instrument.

But it often seems to be that in the heat of these arguments passion overtakes peoples' ability to look at the issue from the opposite point of view. In this case, both sides have to recognize that pretty much no one is "pro gun violence" or wants more people to get shot, similarly to the abortion debate where nobody actually thinks it would be a better world if there were more abortions if we could somehow avoid them.
I'm not some hick from Alabama by the way, I'm a liberal from boston.

Certainly, I should've posted my source of course, all from justfacts[dot]com, it seems to me to be a rather reputable organization, I need to look into it a little more, but as far as I can tell it's fairly unbiased. I copied pasted most of those, with only a few things left out that I felt were irrelevant, but I don't think I've changed the essential jist of any of it.
It just seems to me that most of the objective evidence points to gun control laws doing more harm than good.

I appreciate the thoroughness of ur argument, but:
1) the apparent inability of illegality of (to use ur example) cocaine to eliminate cocaine use doesn't mean we scrap the laws start handing it out to kids.
2) The number of school massacres since the BradyBill might have been even higher w/out that law in place. No one can say.
3) Crime decrease in RightToCarry areas could be attributable to other causes, ie. increases in police presence due to said gun law, gun nuts fudging stats. ;-)
PEACE

...Between September of 1987 and August of 1992, Dade County recorded 4 crimes committed by licensees with firearms. None of these crimes resulted in an injury. The record keeping program was abandoned in 1992 because there were not enough incidents to justify tracking them.
Florida adopted a right-to-carry law in 1987. Between 1987 and 1996, these changes occurred:
homicide rate: FL -36% US -0.4%
firearm homicide rate: FL -37% US +15%
handgun homicide rate: FL -41% US +24%

Florida adopted a right-to-carry law in 1987. At the time the law was passed, critics predicted increases in violence. The founder of the National Organization of Women, Betty Friedan stated:"lethal violence, even in self defense, only engenders more violence."
When the law went into effect, the Dade County Police began a program to record all arrest and non arrest incidents involving concealed carry licensees. |
