Nobody knows. Perhaps an Utopia, perhaps a Dystopia, perhaps plainly nothing. It's about the door itself and the journey to it - not about what lies beyond. At the end of the groups trip across the island there are just the two of them left. Like in reality most of the others gave up or they where afraid to take the chance (lesser effort of will, I guess). I'm already packing my bags. If you really want to find out whats on the other side, you have to make the journey yourself.
