it's probably a new variant that has been fitted with the new sound modifiers to make them as quiet as the dash 7's pretty nifty...

The newest stretch version of the Dash 8 is called the Q400 which in a one class seating holds between 72 & 78 seats. Porter Airlines of Toronto has been using them since they started flying from Toronto's downtown island airport. Go to the website at Q400 DOT COM for an interactive site on the new stretch. Porter starts flying the New York city route on March 31, 2008 with free wine or beer for only $105 each way plus taxes and fees. There are 7 flights a day each way and 2 on the weekends.
