I recommend listening to more than a few songs more than once, and maybe listen to some Bob Dylan and watch the news and read some poetry and. Take that all in and i think you'll start to appreciate his songs-compositions more. His songs are very in tune with culture and the world, but he's instantly recognizable.
And this song is from the 80s and 80s Cohen is different from 1967 Cohen.
