julie zahra is a very talented singer (and also a gorgeous woman). I hope she has to give more in the (near) future.

Friggieri (who wrote the lyrics) is a local poet and Maltese poetry generally prefers semitic over romance words. But that's changing.

you understood most of it becausethe maltese uesed here is mostly semetic. i am spanish and studied arabic and i also understood 60% of this song. but when i was in malta i almost never understood anyone when i heard the people speak maltese. the spoken maltese has only 50% from arabic, the rest 50% is from romantic languages like italian, spanish and french. so it becomes vry hard to understand what they say!

You wanna hear something weirder, I only know Eastern Arabic and some classical and I still understand most of what's going on lol.

haha! i can understand that! "where are you? where are you, my son? with whom i dreamed in the night? this decorated universe is empty without you" did i get right? i'm from Morocco and maltese is very close to our language.
